My name is Jason Hearn. I live in Parsonsburg, MD with my lovely wife Beth. I have lived on the Easten Shore all my life. My wife who is much more cultured than I, has lived in many places around the Chesapeake Bay, last of all Williamsburg,VA. Beth has an extensive background in Design, and I in Construction. 

In 1997 Beth began doing landscape design work and installation. Beth's Beds was the name of the original company. She surprised me with her ability to be able to visualize and implement her designs. This of-course led to me having many long nights after my regular job digging, planting, and implementing those fabulous and at times extensive designs.

I finally told her, that as the company grew I would come to work with her full time. That's how Blue Heron was born. We have spent many years and alot of hard work in developing Blue Heron. My background as I mentioned before was in construction. My father as a general contractor. My Grandfather was a Chief Building Inspector. My Greatgrandfather was a Master Plumber. His company that began in the 1940's is still in business today.  I grew up around all of this knowledge in the construction field. My mother's father was also a skilled tradesman. It's to him that I owe, teaching me how to work. He instilled in me pride in what I do and to always work hard at whatever task is at hand.  

Before I came to work with Blue Heron, I had spent 9 years working as a plumber. The company I worked for Sens Mechanical is known for quality work and professionalism. The owners of the company to whom I am still very close are phenomenal organizers. I credit them with showing me how a professional contruction firm works. This experience helped us greatly in organizing Blue Heron. There was also the experience I gained from them in the different aspects of plumbing and mechanical work itself. Which helped us extensively with our irrigation, drainage and water feature projects. 

Throughout the years I have gained certifications in concrete pavement and retaining wall construction. I also am one of 150 instructors in the world that certify contractors and industry professionals in interlocking concrete pavement for ICPI. I have had extensive training in masonry, stonework and concrete countertops. This has helped to add different facets to our company, that enables us to offer more to our clients.  

After some time Beth's father Richard joined our company as General Manager. He worked for many years in business management with the Tribune Company. His experience enabled us to establish a professional infrastructure, allowing the company to grow.

Despite our growth we still have the same ideals to be honest and hardworking in all our dealings.

Personally I am a very optimistic person. This has helped me through the years to be very driven, and to overcome any difficulties I have experienced. My wife also has been thier for me during times of loss and to encourage me when I needed it.

Landscaping has always made me feel good. In landscaping you can create so many  things using the elements of nature. The sound of water rolling over rock or the beautiful color contrast of flowers. The possibilities are endless, which makes our work extremely enjoyable. It's for that reason that we do what we do. Because we love it.
